Interim Organist
Westminster Presbyterian Church • www.wpcajax.org
3722 Belfort Road, Jacksonville, FL 32216 • Phone 904-737-5133
Our organist of 16 years has recently departed our congregation because of family responsibilities. We are in need of an interim organist, a position that might be extended. We have two Sunday services: morning worship at 10:45, which is in a traditional style with a two-manual organ, and evening worship at 6:00 with piano. At this time we have several talented young women who are willing to play the piano for the evening service, if necessary.
We have no choir at this time, and very seldom do any special music, but have several interested congregation members. In addition, there are several in the congregation who are studying violin. We hope eventually to include more strings in the worship services, given that someone can arrange.
We are a conservative congregation with a formal worship style and hope to continue our tradition of strong hymn singing.
We use the Trinity Hymnal of the Presbyterian Church of America, and several have studied the musical style of the Reformed University Ministries.
We have a great appreciation for the Reformed Faith of historic Presbyterianism. Our worship is God-centered, rich in Scripture content, and not entertainment oriented. We practice the regulative principle of worship, desiring to include only that which God's Word commands. A growing relationship with Christ Jesus is essential to participate in the worship. It is joyous and soul-satisfying.
Salary is negotiable, commensurate with experience.
