Music @ Main : Art Walk with the Symphony

Art Walk with the Symphony continues on Wednesday, January 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Library Auditorium with a solo performance by JSO Principal Trombonist Jeffrey Peterson, accompanied by Ileana Fernandez, JSO Principal Keyboardist. Jeff will give a preview "Concerto Borealis," which he performs with the JSO on the January 9 Discovery and Coffee Concerts. The event also features virtuoso solo showpieces and new works played by JSO violinist Piotr Szewczyk, winner of the Fresh Ink 2008 Florida Composers' Competition. He will be accompanied by pianist Christine Clark.

Experience powerhouse performances by faculty artists from FSU’s acclaimed College of Music. For their Jacksonville debut Corinne Stillwell (violin), Gregory Sauer (cello) and Read Gainsford (piano), will perform the "Ghost" Trio by Beethoven and the 1952 Trio in F-sharp minor by Armenian composer Arno Babajanian. COOS: On the Riverbank
"Three Sopranos and a Tenor on the Riverbank" is a fundraiser for the Hands of Hope Secondary School for Orphans in Iyolwa, Tororo, Uganda. Since this school does not have a source of clean water, our event will help fund that need. Local soprano and COOS member, Lula Odongo, will be joined by sopranos, Shawnda Mack and Angela Blalock; tenor, Walker Durham, and pianist Henry Mack. They will also be assisted by "The Sea Coast Christian Academy Outreach Dancers".
The program will be presented on January 25 at 3 p.m. and will be of interest to everyone. There will be a variety of well-known classics, including "Pie Jesu" from the Requiem of Andrew Lloyd Webber; solos and duets by Vivaldi and Mendelssohn; and a group of favorite spirituals.
Bring your whole family and all your friends. Let’s make a difference in the lives of children in Uganda! A reception will follow in the Great Hall.
